Yes: Some people's fontanelles never totally close. Other people have inborn defects in the skull. Toulouse-lautrec's fontanelle remained very wide open, which is why he always wore the hat. Or you may be feeling a cyst. Your personal physician can advise whether imaging is worthwhile.
