Thyroid labs: That question has 2 answers. First yes, the normal range for TSH from the laboratory is likely 0.5 - 6.0. Although some labs use a top range around 5.0. Regardless, most thyroid experts would suggest ideal thyroid function is when the TSH is between 1-3, and if it's above 5 then you probably have 'subclinical' hypothyroidism, meaning you don't yet have symptoms but chemically is hypothyroid.
