For the most part.: While oral agents such as Accutane and Doxycycline cause significant birth defects and should be avoided. The topical agents are felt to be relatively safe in pregnancy. Benzoyl peroxide is the recommended agent for the treatment of acne in pregnancy. As with any medication or agent check with your health care provider before using any agent.
