Talk with your doc: Reasons range: annoying to concerning; digestion, kidneys, male/female plumbing. Some clues: related to eating? Food (spicy, citrus, tomato, chocolate, caffeine, alcohol? Fatty or fried foods? Splenda/nutrasweet?)? New medications/supplements/herbs? Any aspirin, Ibuprofen or aleve (naproxen)? Warning signs are can't keep food or water down, weight loss, blood/mucus in your stool, fever. Please see your doc!

Spasm of stom wall: Firmness, spasm, pain of any part of the gut/ gastrointestinal tract is caused by the muscular part of the gut going into spasm, either due to irritation from some food, too much acid, or obstruction of normal movement (peristalsis). If persists more than few days, or fever, vomiting, doubled over in pain occurs, see physician. May try stopping alcohol, caffeine, hot spicy foods, tomatoes 1st.

Intestines can cause: If this has just started and associated with nausia, vomiting and fever and worsening then please seek immediate medical attention, however if it is chronic ie been there for weeks to months can mean anything from a hernia to constipation to more serious intestinal issues.
