'Polycythemia': Too many red blood cells, or an elevated hemoglobin is 'polycythemia' this can be a bone marrow problem ['polycythemia vera'] , which can sometimes lead to leukemia, or a 'reactive polycythemia' which is the body reacting to low oxygen stress- like in smokers or being at high altitudes.
