Catheters : One of the complication of passing catheters into the heart is valve damage.

Low risk: If you are talking about central lines use in critically ill patients, there is always the risk of infections but very low with good nursing and doctor care. If you are talking about right or left cardiac catheterization there is a very low risk of valve damage. In over 20 years of practice in critical care I have not seen that complication.
