Chronic leukemia: Chronic myelogenous leukemia is a chronic cancer that presents with increased numbers of myeloid cells. Splenomegaly may occur. CML may also transform into a more acute and dangerous leukemia in rare cases. Currently CML is effectively treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors. These inhibitors put the body into a medical remission, which means that the leukemia is not detectable in the blood.
