Constipation: Why does the child need a laxative? No pooh for how long? Hard pooh? How long has this been going on? What is the child's diet? These are important to discuss with the child's pediatrician. I do not recommend laxative for children without an evaluation to include history and physical exam. Laxatives are sometimes necessary for chronic constipation but an evaluation in the first step.
