Food allergies: Allergic reactions to food typically occur within minutes to a couple of hours after ingestion or contact with that food. The usual symptoms are hives, itching, swelling, vomiting, diarrhea and sometimes severe reactions like anaphylaxis. Sometimes it only takes a small amount of the food to trigger a reaction.
