What exactly does it mean when you fail a breathing test for cancer treatment?

More information plz: The only "breathing test for cancer" that I am aware of is not routinely done in the usa. It is done to screen for stomach cancer. Some treatments for other types of cancers can effect the lungs so pulmonary function tests are done to see if people can tolerate the expected decreased function with those treatments.
