Hepatitis: Inflammation of the liver is referred to as hepatitis. Most commonly it is due to viral infections, e.g., hep a, hep b, hep c, epstein barr virus, cytomegalo virus. Bacteria and parasites can also cause hepatitis. Alcoholic injury can induce hepatitis as well. Hepatic inflammation may result from chemical injury as well, e.g., carbon tetrachloride, mushrooms etc.
