A member asked:

Explain the condition called an escherichia coli infection.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treatable: E. Coli normally live in our large bowel and perform a useful function there. When they contaminate our food or water, disease may result. There are many subtypes of e. Coli. They are a frequent cause of "traveler's diarrhea" with nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, but respond rapidly to even a single dose of antibiotics. Other forms produce a more serious and potentially lethal infection.
