A member asked:

Do the side/long term effects of chemotherapy out weigh the benefits?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO, not at all: The benefits from chemotherapy far outweigh the risks. Chemotherapoy is often the only way to control cancer. The side effects from chhemotherapy are temporary and relatively easy to control in most of the patients. The side effects are often reversible and rarely life threatening. But cancer is invariably life threatening, so there is not a question which option is best for the patient.
