Pain and redness: Balanitis is inflammation of the head of the penis (not the foreskin). This part of the penis is called the glans. Inflammation of the glans presents with redness, pain, and swelling of the glans. This condition is more frequently seen in uncircumcised diabetics where high sugar levels result in yeast infections. Treatment should focus on better sugar control, sometimes surgery ( circumcision).
