How do surgeons repair holes in the intestines?

Resection/anastamosi: It depends on the extent of the hole.Usually they will resect the diseased part with holes as you put it and bring the edges together and sew it, it is called anastomosis. Some time they have to bring one end of intestine through the abdomen wall as in colostomy or ileostomy with drainage tubes if the resected part is bad. Insome cases they can go back and close the colostomy/ileostomy sew back.
