Not necessarily: Rely on the advice of your doctor. There are other bacteria that can cause tonsillitis, not just streptococcus(strep throat). Sometimes a culture will not grow out other pathogenic bacteria or maybe the sample wasn't good. So, don't rely completely on the culture. It is symptoms, exam and lab tests together that help decide on treatment.
