A member asked:

What are the causes of a urinary tract infection and what kind of medicine can i take for the pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Multiple causes: Most urinary infections are bacterial. Some are ascending infections through the urethra, especially in women, other are due to seeding of the kidney through blood. Some urinary infections are prompted by obstruction to the flow of urine. The medicine needs to be tailored to the organism causing the infection and it is not a matter for self-care. Please see your doctor for proper antibiotic.
