Induces Cell Uptake: Insulin, a peptide hormone produced & released by beta cells in pancreas, primarily induces liver, muscle & fat cells to increase uptake of sugar from water around cells into cells via glucose uptake transport proteins (5 known), esp 4. However, it is not just insulin, but Insulin & amylin, always released in a fixed ratio. Insulin can drive glucose to low & increases appetite; amylin does not.
