Test yourself: Be a good example. Demonstrate how easy it is, show the person that it is quick, and can give an accurate result immediately. Be able to explain the result, though! on a fasting specimen, less than 127 is normal and greater than 140 is concerning. Two hours after a meal, over 200 is diagnostic for diabetes. The fear of this knowledge may be what their hesitation is, so be prepared for the answer!
