Hemolytic anemia: Actually you should avoid Macrodantin (nitrofurantoin) during the last month of the pregnancy and while in labor. It can cause hemolytic anemia in the baby.

HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA: Because of the possibility of hemolytic anemia caused by immature erythrocyte enzyme systems (glutathione instability), the drug is contraindicated in pregnant patients at term (38 to 42 weeks gestation).
