Sleep drunkenness: We usually enter slow wave sleep - the deepest sleep - after the first 20 - 30 minutes of sleep, and most slow wave sleep occurs in first 4 hours of sleep. Awakening from slow wave sleep is more difficult, and can leave one feeling groggy and lethargic. If you nap during the day, you should try to sleep for thirty minutes or less.
