Is it safe to go snowboarding 5 months after getting a total hip replacement?

No: Dislocation may always be a risk. You will need to be evaluated by your orthopedic surgeon before participating in any sport.

Increased risk: Snowboarding 5 months after hip replacement may not be the best idea. The muscles around the hip are still healing. The bone around the prosthesis is still healing to the prosthesis. This puts you at increased risk for dislocation of the prosthesis or a fracture around the prosthesis. You need to have a discussion with the surgeon that did the replacement for a definitive answer.
