What criteria do doctors use to decide which birth control pill is best for a person?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

OCP: First of all make sure there are no contraindications. Generic ocp are as good as brand names. If patient complaints of breast soreness and pain then they need a pill with less estrogen. This is how you decide which one is best. The less estrogen the pill have more prone for ovulation to occur. Mild discomfort in the breasts mostly dissapears in 1 month. So try ocp for at least 2-3 months.
