Intestinal Movements: Our stomach, small/large intestines are in a constant state of motion called peristalsis. This is how digested food is pushed along in digestion. When we move our bowels, this activity increases and there can be spasms associated as it tries to move things along. If there is something that requires extra effort such as gas or a large stool, it may cause cramping. This is uncomfortable but normal.
