Hospital based care: Newborns to such exposure are generally managed within the hospital setting for their withdrawal. In some cases it will take weeks. Once that period is passed & the child is home, they have the same problems as other infants although their ability to establish good sleep/wake patterns may be weak.Medication is seldom needed at that point.
