Urine retention: He may have either a large obstructing prostate gland which may require additional treatment, or radiation-related scarring of the outlet and bladder neck related to seed placement, or a weakened somewhat flaccid bladder. Such a post-treatment course is not typical. Be sure to follow closely with your treating doctor or get another opinion if things do not resolve soon.

Swelling of prostate: When seeds are implanted in the prostate to kill the cancer, the prostate swells when the cancer dies. The swelling of prostate can cause blockage of the tube ( urethra) which passes through the prostate. It causes stoppage of urine.Generally it lasts from 3 to 6 months. During this period it is preferable to do self catheterization., take rapaflo (silodosin) and naproxin. Rarely surgery may be necessary.
