Many possibilities: Given your age and multiple "dots” on a chest x-ray, a benign cause is more likely. However, please see your doctor and follow any recommendations on the chest x-ray report. Multiple nodules in both lungs most likely represent benign granulomas, especially in areas where certain fungi are in the environment. However, lung cancer is possible, especially in a smoker. May need chest ct.

X-Ray "Dots": From your description, it is difficult to know exactly what the "dots' represent, but assuming they are benign, they probably represent calcified granulomas, which are small areas of inflammation of lung tissue. They are commonly due to a prior infectious process in the lungs. For instance, tuberculosis or the fungal diseases histoplasmosis or cocci may cause granulomas to be seen on x-ray.
