Thyroid gland: Makes thyroid hormone which helps regulate metabolism. Patients with low thyroid hormones tend to feel cold, gain weight, are tired, may be constipated, hoarse or weak. However, the presence of seizures and drinking a lot of water raises the possibility of a problem in or around the pituitary gland at the base of the skull. Bloodwork measuring TSH as well as thyroid hormone could help. See M.D.
