Varies: Time to recovery in acute pancreatitis will vary with severity and the underlying cause. In cases of chronic pancreatitis there may never be complete resolution of symptoms. You will have to check with your doctor as to what type you have.

Pancreatitis: Variable depending on the cause and the severity. Range can be from a few days to several months. Most common causes in the us include gallstones and alcohol followed my medication. The cause needs to be corrected and the pancreas will more than likely heal itself over time. For biliary pancreatitis a cholecystectomy should be reccomended to prevent further attacks.
