So many options...: Your described stool frequency, at once a week, deserves evaluation. 1st, you are taking constipating medication--ask your prescribing doctor to re-visit amitriptyline. 2nd, if no tests have been yet accomplished, see a GI doctor to rule out metabolic disease (e.G hypothyroidism), partial obstruction, inflammation, anatomic defects (check colon), functional problem (e.G hirschprung's, etc.), more.

Need B.M. control: It appears you have chronic. Constipation at a young age . This may be related to adverse effects of your medications, inactivity and poor diet .Try excercise , increased water intake, increased fiber in your diet and have your doctor consider changing any contributing medication. .
