Is it common to have loose bowels after a hysterectomy?

Call your Surgeon: During abdominal surgery the bowels may be touched or moved and they show their displeasure by deciding not to work for awhile or by working overtime. Concerns for diarrhea after surgery would be more than 3 bm/d w/o laxatives, fever, blood in stool, pain. Tests for c. Difficile (an overgrowth of a GI bacterial due to antibiotics you may have received) or eval of post operative infection needed.
