Follow instructions: Smoking, excessive physical activity, eating if still numb from the local anesthesia, driving if sedated; rinsing, sucking through a straw and spitting out for the first 24 hours. It is always best to get both oral and written instructions from your surgeon after the procedure which is appropriate for you specific situation.

After the extraction: We recommend that patients do not smoke, drink alcohol, rinse, spit, or use a straw for the next 24 hours. You may, however eat, as long as you are comfortable.

Be patient: I have had surgery as a teenager to remove 8 teeth from my mouth. Definitely not fun. From personal experience i can share what helped me. Soft foods were exactly what sustained nourishment. What will not be good : nuts, popcorn, broccoli, carrots, celery, apples... Anything that will crunch or leave little bits in between your teeth will be a big no. Good luck with the healing process !
