A member asked:

Hi my blood sugar is about 6.3mmol/l on average in the mornings when fasting, but before going to bed it avergaes about 5.8. what may be going on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Dawn" effect: You may be overshooting your hypoglycemic meds. If during the night your sugar falls too low the body responds with a "stress" reaction and releases chemicals (cortisol, Epinephrine and others) that actually raise blood sugar. Please discuss with your dr.
