When you discover on the prescription monitoring database that your patient has been doctor shopping what is your legal responsibility?

Great question: With some states it's not legal but other states such as tennessee, it's a law to check the database before prescribing painkillers such as hydrocodone and oxycodone. I'm not sure what the legal ramification in states not mandated by law but i posit states like tn the punishment is more since it is a law.
