A member asked:

Why don't doctors talk to their patients about diet more instead of prescription drugs? i've had fantastic results with a vegan diet.

Lazy: Many patients are not motivated to be disciplined to eat well and want an easy fix with a medication that is why.

Good question: Medical education is mostly geared towards fixing illness through medication and medical procedures. But much illness can be prevented through a change in eating habits. It is easier to hand out a pill than to convince someone to change their diet in the time slot allowed per patient. Though many factors are involved, this state of affairs is terrible and must be changed. Thanks for raising this.

It depends.: If you were overweight and with mild diabetes or mild BP elevation, i would certainly talk to you about nutrition and diet but if you had pneumonia i would talk with you about prescription medication to help you recover. Good medical practice is tailoring a remedy to what ails an individual person not a one-size-fits-all approach. I am glad you found a remedy that helped you!
