Dr. Bin Sung answered

See CDC recommendati: Antibiotic treatment later in the course of disease probably does not affect the course of symptoms, but may be useful to reduce the spread of the infection. In general, antibiotic therapy is warranted for patients with duration of symptoms ≤2 weeks; it may also be given for patients with persistent symptoms for up to four weeks.
