How long does it take for pertussis to go away after treatment?

Pertussis: Pertussis or whooping cough has a predetermined course. Antibiotics kill the bacteria but the symptoms can persist for months. The usual presentation is runny nose for about 2 weeks, followed by the characteristic cough with an end whoop for many weeks/months. The recovery period takes another 1 - 2 months.
