SCROTAL DISCOMFORT: If it is the scrotum and not the testes or epididymis that is bothering you the ultrasound is accurate means of testing. There are several ailments that can refer pain to the genetals including the low back , hip , lower colon and prostate. These may need investigation. It is very helpful for diagnosis to determine at home what makes it better or worse

Reexamine: Consider another ultrasound if you are still hurting. Varicoceles, or dilated veins around the testicle, can cause chronic pain and be difficult to see. If you get a recheck make sure the technologist checks for this carefully. Sometimes it helps to have you hold your breath or evaluate you standing to makes sure these aren't there. The same maneuvers help to exclude subtle hernias.
