Some hard data: There are all sorts of people who will tell you all about pills and magic to help you resist disease. The best hard science is in the elderly. Vaccines: You cannot improve your immune system, but you can utilize it to produce the antibodies that will protect you against many common but potentially quite severe illnesses. Get your tetanus, pertussis, and influenzal vaccines up to date. If you plan to travel, check the cdc website for recommendations for vaccines and prophylaxis necessary for the places you are going. Stay healthy, eat well.
