Yes: Sorry to hear that your blood sugar is still too high. It may take a while to come down, but you could also have underlying diabetes that needs treatment. Diet and exercise may help. There are many alternatives to insulin, including metformin, januvia, actos, byetta, victoza (liraglutide) and the new Invokana pill. All of these have the advantage that they do not cause hypoglycemia or weight gain like insulin.

DM : Sounds like this may be a new problem. You may have been "pre-diabetic" & Prednisone accelerated your condition. Regardless of the cause, adequate exercise, weight loss & a diabetic diet should be instilled. If afraid of insulin, you may want to discuss once daily Insulin &/or oral medications with your doctor. Your body will not get used to insulin.
