Blood clots serious.: Deep venous thrombosis are a very serious condition especially above or near the knee. They may present with leg swelling and pain. A painless test, doppler / ultrasound, should be performed asap. Blood thinners may be needed to prevent further progression of the clots. Birth control pills, especially in smokers, increases the risk of this condition. If this is suspected see your doctor.
