Sometimes surgery: Most cases do not require surgery.. Most cases are treated with conservative management, rest/observation, diet changes, and analgesia, some cases require tracheotomy.Only 10% require surgery. Observed for 48-72 hours after trauma, may develop rapid bleeding, swelling, discolorationa, ecchymosis and spasm resulting in life threatening event..Usual outcome from fractured hyoid bone is good.
