A member asked:

Which method is preferable for a healthy baby in the case of unexplained infertility? ivf or icsi?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can use both: Because abnormal sperm function may be a cause for "unexplained infertility, " there is a higher risk of failed fertilization when "conventional" fertilization is used for ivf, so some doctors recommend icsi (injecting a sperm directly into the egg). Others recommend icsi on only half of the eggs, which protects against the risk and also reveals whether icsi is needed in any future cycles.
