Not clear: Gestational influenza has been associated previously with schizophrenia in offspring, but the relationship between this exposure and bipolar disorder (bd) is unclear. Maternal influenza may be a risk factor for bd. Although replication is required, the findings suggest that prevention of maternal influenza during pregnancy may reduce the risk of bd. Reference: jama psychiatry. 2013;():1-8.

Some link, yes: Please look up: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/news/science-news/2013/flu-in-pregnancy-may-quadruple-childs-risk-for-bipolar-disorder.shtml There are other studies. Risk is still low just from this area. Much more is the risk via genetics. One parent with bipolar leads to 35% of child having it, and if both parents have, then it is 75% chance one offspring will have.
