When pregnant, what are long-term risks to an unborn child of working in a pediatric office? (like being exposed to flu and other contagious diseases)

That's a tough one,: Because you can get your torch titers & take the flu-mist before you conceive, wash your hands till they're raw, & still get sneezed, pooped or peed on with goodness knows what. In light of the recent danish article on increased incidence of autism in children whose moms had a viral illness with fever for a week, not always the 'flu, i'd say it's a personal decision till we know more.

Potential Benefit: The antibodies you produce to common childhood illnesses may trasfer to the fetus and offer protection in the first six months of life.
