Must use condom: Unfortunately we don't know when or if hpv disappears from the skin. It can stay latent for years before warts ever show up. Hpv can stay in the skin even after the visible warts have been treated. We sometimes see recurrence after many years of being wart-free. Hpv tests also can go from (+) to (-). Certain hpv types can cause cervical or anal cancer. Please protect your partner and use a condom.
