Sebum or hair: Contained within your hair follicle apparatus in the skin are apocrine and eccrine glands and the hair itself. Blocked "follicles" can exude sebum (white thick material), sweat, or hairs. Perhaps it was a hair that had been deformed from becoming ingrowm.
