A member asked:

Why is it bad to go through early menapause? why is it important to take estrogen after a complete hysterectomy to prevent early menapause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Early Menopause: When the ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone, some degenerative processes start, such as bone loss leading eventually to osteoporosis, and changes in cholesterol that can increase risk of heart disease, and cognitive decline. If menopause is early, these processes start up sooner. Hormone replacement delays the process.
