Doubtful: D-dimers are the product of blood clots breaking down somewhere in the body. These are very sensitive tests, but they are not very specific - meaning the values are abnormal in a wide variety of settings. These tests are sometimes used to diagnose blood clots in the legs or lungs, but they can be elevated in a lot of other diseases. In fact, even elevated levels can mean little is wrong.
