Patellofemoral pain: Most commonly, pain on the front of the knee with flexion is derived from the patellofemoral joint, especially in young females. We call this patellofemoral syndrome. Pain comes from either the bone, cartilage or other soft tissues in/around the joint where the kneecap joins the end of the femur. There are many treatments, but the most important one is often quadriceps strengthening.
